Mississippi Resident Sentenced to Twelve Years in Prison for Armed Carjacking

A federal judge today sentenced a Mississippi resident for a carjacking that occurred in Moody, Alabama, announced U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Special Agent in Charge Marcus Watson.


Jacksonville Convicted Felon Sentenced to More Than Five Years in Federal Prison for Firearm Possession

U.S. District Judge Brian J. Davis has sentenced Terry Lenard Shipman (48, Jacksonville) to five years and five months in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Shipman had pleaded guilty in December 2022.


Convicted Drug Trafficker Sentenced to 30 Years for Trafficking Nearly 150 Pounds of Drugs, Including Heroin, Fentanyl, and Marijuana

Linwood Douglas Thorne, 51, of Washington, D.C., was sentenced to 30 years in prison for his role in a large-scale drug trafficking conspiracy that resulted in one of the largest seizures of heroin in the District of Columbia’s history.


Billings Man Admits Armed Robbery Charges in Carjacking

A Billings man admitted to robbery and firearms crimes today after he was accused of stealing a car at gunpoint in Billings and leading law enforcement on a chase into Big Horn County, where he was arrested, U.S. Attorney Jesse Laslovich said.


Two Las Vegas Felons Sentenced to Prison for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Drug Trafficking Conspiracy

Two convicted felons and Las Vegas residents were sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey for unlawful possession of firearms and for their roles in a methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy. Nicholas Eddards was sentenced to 96 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release.

ATF National Response Team Joins Chicago Fire Department in Fire Investigation

The Chicago Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives requested ATF’s National Response Team join the investigation into a fire that occurred Tuesday early morning that claimed the life of a Chicago Firefighter and where two others sustained nonlife threatening injuries at 12015 South Wallace in Chicago’s West Pullman neighborhood.


Honduran National Sentenced to 41 Months in Federal Prison for Possession of Firearms by an Alien Illegally and Unlawfully in the United States

United States Attorney Ronald C. Gathe, Jr. announced that U.S. District Judge Brian A. Jackson sentenced Elmer Enrique Amaya Gonzales, age 20, of Honduras, to 41 months in federal prison following his conviction for possession of firearms by an alien illegally and unlawfully in the United States.


Straw Purchaser of Gun That Killed Detroit Police Officer Sentenced to Prison

A Detroit man was sentenced today to two years in prison for purchasing a Draco pistol for his friend, Ehmani Davis, who would go on to use the firearm in the killing of Detroit Police Officer Loren Courts, United States Attorney Dawn N. Ison announced today.


Danville, Illinois, Man Charged With Carjacking Resulting in Death and Murder

A grand jury today returned a superseding indictment charging Kevin Marshall, 32, of Danville, Illinois, with allegedly carjacking and murdering Daniel Walter, a 28-year-old man from Williamsport, Indiana, on or about April 25, 2020.

A Cumberland County, New Jersey, man today admitted possessing a destructive device and explosive materials, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced.


Raceland Man Pleads Guilty to Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime

U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that DAMER SMITH, age 46, of Raceland, Louisiana, pled guilty on April 4, 2023 to Count Three (3) of the indictment, charging him with Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 924(c)(1)(A) and 924(c)(1)(A)(i). In exchange, the government dismissed Counts 1 and 2, that charged him with Possession of a Firearm After a Domestic Violence Conviction, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(g)(9) and 924(a)(2), and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(C), respectively.


Bogalusa Man Sentenced to 160 Months Imprisonment for Violating the Federal Gun Control Act

JAKARI BROWN, a/k/a “Jakari Lemar,” age 24, a resident of Bogalusa, Louisiana, was sentenced on April 4, 2023 by U.S. District Court Judge Greg G. Guidry to consecutive terms of 120 months and 40 months, respectively. Also, Judge Guidry imposed 3 years of supervised release and a mandatory $200 special assessment fee after BROWN plead guilty to two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(g)(1) and 924(a)(2), announced U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans.

A federal grand jury has returned an indictment charging Charles Austin Jenkins, age 66, of Thurmont, Maryland, and Robert Justin Krop, age 36, of Frederick, Maryland, with conspiracy and false statements in order to acquire machineguns.


West Hartford Man Sentenced to More Than 10 Years in Prison for Fentanyl Distribution and Gun Possession Offenses

Vanessa Roberts Avery, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that JAYVIAN RODRIGUEZ, 25, of West Hartford, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Sarala V. Nagala in Hartford to 126 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release, for fentanyl distribution and firearm possession offenses.
