Tiptonville, TN - On September 8th, 2023, U.S. Marshals, Lake County Sheriff’s Office, and Tiptonville Police Department captured an Illinois murder fugitive in West Tennessee.

Eric Hardy, 32, of Decatur, IL, was wanted for First Degree Murder for an alleged crime that occurred on September 1st in Decatur, IL. Hardy then fled to Tiptonville in Lake County, TN. After a request for assistance, the case was adopted by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF) in Jackson, TN.

The fugitive investigation led the task force to a residence on Wynn Street in Tiptonville. Hardy was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Lake County Jail.

The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force within Western Tennessee. The Western Tennessee Division of the TRVFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and the Tennessee Department of Correction Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
