The Bureau of Justice Statistics, a division of the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs, today released Female Recruits in Law Enforcement Training Academies, 2018.
This brief Just the Stats report presents data on female recruits in law enforcement training academies. The two-page web report provides statistics on the percent of recruits who started and completed basic training who were female, by state and by type of academy. Data is from BJS’s Census of Law Enforcement Training Academies, which gathers information from state and local academies that are responsible for administering mandatory basic training to newly appointed or elected law enforcement officers and was last administered in 2018.
