The U.S. Marshals’ Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) arrested fugitive Jan Henderson in the 400 block of Ethel Avenue, at approximately 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Henderson was indicted on April 28, 2023, through the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas and charged with; Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, Vehicular Homicide, and Failure to Stop after an Accident.

The charges are the result of a Dayton Police Department investigation of a fatal motor vehicle accident which occurred on or about November 21, 2022. Court records allege Henderson was the person driving the vehicle causing the accident and his actions resulted in the death of another person; however, Henderson fled the scene prior to emergency services arrival. Henderson has been booked into the Montgomery County Jail and awaits his court appearance in the matter without bond.

“The U.S. Marshals and Dayton Police Department have a long-standing partnership on the task force. The safe capture of this fugitive is the result of the hard work done by the Dayton P.D. investigators and the collaboration with our fugitive task force. We will continue to work with and support our partners in making the community safer.” – Michael D. Black, United States Marshal.

U.S. Marshals SOFAST is a multi-jurisdictional task force comprised of the Dayton Police Department, Ohio Adult Parole Authority, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Springfield Police Department, Greene County Prosecutor’s Office, Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office, Perry Township Police Department, Springboro Police Department, Franklin Police Department, United States Secret Service, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, West Carrollton Police Department, and the Xenia Police Department.
