Judge Imposes Eight Consecutive Life Sentences Plus 260 Years in Prison for ISIS-Inspired 2017 Murder of Eight Victims and Attempted Murder of 18 Others in NYC Truck Attack

News Release: Sayfullo Saipov, 34, of Uzbekistan, was sentenced to eight consecutive life sentences, two concurrent life sentences, and a consecutive sentence of 260 years in prison for carrying out a terrorist attack on Oct. 31, 2017, in the name of the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), in which Saipov used a truck to murder eight victims and injure many more on a bike path in lower Manhattan.


Slidell Man Indicted for Federal Carjacking and Weapons Offenses

News Release: NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA - SHAMPAIN POOLE, age 22, of Slidell, Louisiana, was charged by a federal grand jury on May 5, 2023, in a three-count indictment for carjacking and violations of the Federal Gun Control Act, announced United States Attorney Duane A. Evans.


Phoenix Man Pleads Guilty to Armed Robbery Spree That Ended in High-Speed Chase in Which He Opened Fire on Law Enforcement

News Release: RIVERSIDE, California - An Arizona man pleaded guilty today to federal criminal charges for committing armed robberies of nine stores in Southern California and Arizona during a crime spree last summer that ended in a high-speed chase in which he fired upon federal agents and, after police rammed his car, he accidentally shot himself under his chin.


South Bend Man Convicted of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm

News Release: SOUTH BEND -Late yesterday, Leontis Cornelius, 43 years old, of South Bend, Indiana, was found guilty after a 2-day jury trial presided over by United States District Court Chief Judge Jon E. DeGuilio, announced United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson.


Felon Sentenced to Prison for Illegal Possession of Firearm

News Release: BILLINGS - A man with multiple state and federal felony convictions was sentenced today to a total of five years and five months in prison for violating supervised release on prior convictions and for illegally possessing a firearm after law enforcement found a loaded gun in a vehicle he was driving when it crashed, U.S. Attorney Jesse Laslovich said.


Fresno Men Charged for Series of Vehicle Pipe-Bombings

News Release: FRESNO, Calif. - A federal grand jury returned an indictment today against Scott Eric Anderson, 43, and Paul New, 55, both of Fresno, charging them with conspiracy to destroy by means of an explosive device and malicious destruction by means of an explosive device, U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced. Anderson was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.


Fort Myers Felon Convicted for Unlawfully Possessing Loaded Rifle

News Release: Fort Myers, FL - United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announces that a federal jury has found Javonte Keyon Whitfield (25, Fort Myers) guilty of possessing a firearm and ammunition as a previously convicted felon. Whitfield faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison. His sentencing date has not yet been scheduled. Whitfield had been indicted on February 9, 2022.


Cheyenne Man Convicted of Unlawful Possession of Firearm

News Release: Devon Jonathan Souza, a/k/a/ Devon Jonathan Swan, age 29, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, was convicted on May 10, 2023, by a federal jury for being a felon and a drug user in unlawful possession of a firearm. The trial was held before U.S. District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson.


Inmate Pleads Guilty to Possessing Weapon at FCI Beckley

News Release: BECKLEY, W.Va. - Iglesias McEntyre, 34, an inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Beckley, pleaded guilty today to possession of a weapon by an inmate of a federal prison.


Albany Woman and Troy Man Plead Guilty to Money Laundering and Marijuana Trafficking

News Release: ALBANY, NEW YORK - Latrice Mumphrey, age 42, of Albany, and Victor Turner, age 68, of Troy, New York, pled guilty today to conspiracy to commit money laundering and conspiracy to distribute marijuana, respectively.


Multi-Convicted Felon Sentenced to 15 Years for Possessing a Firearm and Controlled Substances

News Release: Orlando, FL - U.S. District Judge Paul G. Byron has sentenced Curtis Tyrone Johnson (35, Melbourne) to 15 years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and possessing with the intent to distribute various controlled substances. The court also ordered Johnson to forfeit a Glock.40 caliber pistol and ammunition traceable to the offense. A federal jury had found Johnson guilty on February 8, 2023.


Missouri Felon Sentenced to 66 Months in Prison for Selling 7 Machine Guns

News Release: CAPE GIRARDEAU - A man from Dunklin County, Missouri, was sentenced Thursday to five and one-half years in prison for selling seven devices that convert AR-15-style rifles into fully automatic weapons.


Mobile Man with Illegally Modified Machinegun Sentenced in Federal Court

News Release: MOBILE, AL - A Mobile man was sentenced in federal court today on the charge of Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, described as a Glock.40 caliber pistol loaded with a magazine containing eighteen rounds of.40 caliber ammunition modified with a machinegun-conversion device, which had not been registered to him as required by federal law. Sidney Rashard Collins, 21, pled guilty to the charge in August of 2022.


Burnsville Felon Charged With Illegal Possession of Machineguns

News Release: INDIANAPOLIS- Alexandria Flick, 23, of Bloomington, Indiana, has been convicted of a felony and sentenced to 3 years of federal supervised probation after pleading guilty to making false statements in connection with the purchase of sixteen firearms.
