Sarasota Woman Pleads Guilty To Conspiracy To Defraud The United States

News Release: Tampa, Florida - United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announces that Madeline Nikolson has pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States and to impede and impair the ability of the Internal Revenue (“IRS") to ascertain and collect personal and corporate income tax revenue. Nikolson faces a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set.

News Release: St. Thomas, VI - United States Attorney Delia L. Smith announced today that Cleon Otto 35, of St. Thomas, was sentenced by Chief District Court Judge Robert A. Molloy to 12 months of probation on his conviction of creating a false authentication document. Molloy also ordered that Otto pay a $1,000.00 fine, a $25 special assessment and restitution in the amount of $1,162.20.


Phoenix Man Pleads Guilty to Armed Robbery Spree That Ended in High-Speed Chase in Which He Opened Fire on Law Enforcement

News Release: RIVERSIDE, California - An Arizona man pleaded guilty today to federal criminal charges for committing armed robberies of nine stores in Southern California and Arizona during a crime spree last summer that ended in a high-speed chase in which he fired upon federal agents and, after police rammed his car, he accidentally shot himself under his chin.


Kanawha County Woman Sentenced to Prison for Federal Fraud Crimes

News Release: CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Karen L. Hodges, also known as “Karen Igo," “Karen Clay," “Karen Richmond," and “Karen Gessel," 49, of St. Albans, was sentenced today to one year and four months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for three counts of securities fraud. Hodges must also pay $38,570.78 in restitution.

News Release: Fort Myers, Florida - U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Barber has sentenced Johnny Fior (48, Cape Coral) to 46 months in federal prison for wire fraud and illegal monetary transactions. As part of his sentence, the court also entered an order of forfeiture in the amount of $1,404,169.74, which were the proceeds of the wire fraud and illegal monetary transaction offenses. Fior had pleaded guilty on Jan. 18, 2023.
