New Orleans Man Sentenced for Violating Controlled Substances Act

News Release: NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA - MARVIN SIMS, age 34, a resident of New Orleans, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Eldon E. Fallon on one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with the intent to distribute heroin and fentanyl, in violation of the Federal Controlled Substances Act, announced U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans.

Mount Dora Convicted Felon Sentenced to Seven Years for Illegally Possessing a Firearm

News Release: Ocala, Florida - Senior United States District Judge John Antoon II has sentenced Woodrow Milton Butler (40, Mount Dora) to seven years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The court also ordered the forfeiture of the firearm and ammunition used in the offense. Butler had pleaded guilty on Feb. 1, 2023.

La Crosse Felon Sentenced to 46 Months for Illegal Gun Possession

News Release: MADISON, WIS. - Timothy M. O’Shea, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Kareem Nellem, 30, La Crosse, Wisconsin was sentenced today by Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson to 46 months in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a felon. This prison term will be followed by a 3-year term of supervised release. Nellem pleaded guilty to this charge on April 12, 2023.

News Release: PEORIA, Ill. - A Peoria, Illinois, man, Terrance T. Dotson, 50, of the 1600 block of South Livingston Street, was sentenced on July 20, 2023, to 48 months’ imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for possessing a firearm and ammunition as a felon.

News Release: Vanessa Roberts Avery, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that Armando Varela-Plaza, 41, a citizen of Mexico last residing in Queens, New York, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Alvin W. Thompson in Hartford to 37 months of imprisonment for his role in a drug trafficking ring.

News Release: Vanessa Roberts Avery, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that LUIS MIGUEL RODRIGUEZ, 25, of Hartford, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Alvin W. Thompson in Hartford to approximately 32 months of imprisonment, time already served, and three years of supervised release, for unlawfully possessing firearms.

Drugs Seized From Residence in Claiborne Parish Leads to 15+ Year Sentence for Haynesville Man

News Release: SHREVEPORT, La. -United States Attorney Brandon B. Brown announced the sentencing of Dean Fitzgerald Williams, 40, of Haynesville, Louisiana. United States District Judge Elizabeth E. Foote sentenced Williams to 181 months (15 years, 1 month) in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. Williams pleaded guilty to the charges on February 8, 2023.

News Release: SHREVEPORT, La. - Roderick Agnes, 42, of Shreveport, Louisiana, has been sentenced in U.S. District Court, announced U.S. Attorney Brandon B. Brown. U.S. District Judge Elizabeth E. Foote sentenced Agnes to 112 months (9 years, 4 months) in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release, for possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon and in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Federal Indictments Target San Gabriel Valley Gang Linked to Murder, Witness Intimidation, Illegal Gambling and Drug Trafficking

News Release: LOS ANGELES - A coalition of federal and local authorities this morning announced federal charges against 10 members and associates of a San Gabriel Valley gang who are named in a series of federal grand jury indictments that allege a wide range of criminal conduct. The crimes alleged include the fatal shooting of a woman who was gunned down when a gang member attempted to kill a person who was providing information to law enforcement.

Hatchett pleaded guilty on April 3, 2023.
