There were nine notices published by the Justice Department in week ending July 15, according to the Federal Register.

The most recent notice, Agency Information Collection Activities; Proposed Collection Comments Requested; Revision of a Currently Approved Collection; National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS), was submitted on July 13, 2023.

The Justice Department published nine the week before, unchanged.

The Department is one of the oldest in the US, focused primarily on law enforcement and the federal prison system. Downsizing the Federal Government, a project aimed at lowering taxes and boosting federal efficiency, detailed wasteful expenses such as $16 muffins at conferences and board meetings.

Notices are required documents detailing rules and regulations being proposed by each federal department. This allows the public to see what issues legislators and federal departments are focusing on.

Any person or organization can comment on the proposed rules. Departments and agencies must then address “significant issues raised in comments and discuss any changes made,” the Federal Register says.
