U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina), Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, last night on the Senate floor objected to Democrats’ trying to replace Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-California) as a member of the committee. Senator Feinstein is currently absent from the Senate.
Graham noted that Senate Democrats want to replace Senator Feinstein so they can confirm judges that do not have the votes to advance out of committee.
- GRAHAM: “This is about a handful of judges that you can’t get the votes for.” https://youtu.be/bWcVAAHpLf0?t=24
- GRAHAM: “I understand that you won the election, we lost, and I want to make sure we process judges fairly. But the reason this is being [done] is to try to change the numbers on the committee – in a way that I think would be harmful to the Senate – and to [advance] a handful of judges that I think should never be on the bench.” https://youtu.be/bWcVAAHpLf0?t=36
