United States Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero announced that Zachary William Easterly, 38, of Etters, Pennsylvania, was charged by Information with misdemeanor assault of a federal officer. Specifically, the Information alleges that on August 30, 2022, Easterly assaulted a Special Agent of the Federal Air Marshal Service who was engaged in the performance of his official duties.

If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of one year in prison, one year of supervised release, and a $100,000 fine.

The case was investigated by the Federal Air Marshal Service, an agency of the Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security Adminstration.

An indictment, information, or criminal complaint is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
