Frederick County Sheriff and Gun Dealer Indicted for Scheme To Illegally Acquire Machineguns

News Release: Baltimore, Maryland - A federal grand jury has returned an indictment charging Charles Austin Jenkins, age 66, of Thurmont, Maryland, and Robert Justin Krop, age 36, of Frederick, Maryland, with conspiracy and false statements in order to acquire machineguns. Krop is also charged with illegal possession of machineguns. No court appearance is scheduled for the defendants at this time.


Illegal Possession of a Firearm Sends Ruston Man to Prison

News Release: MONROE, La. - United States Attorney Brandon B. Brown announced that Howard Demartae Jackson, 27, of Ruston, Louisiana, has been sentenced by United States District Judge Terry A. Doughty to 170 months in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release, for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.


Raleigh County Man Sentenced to More Than 12 Years in Prison for Fentanyl Crime

News Release: BECKLEY, W.Va. - Sean Hafesh, 34, of Daniels, Raleigh County, was sentenced today to 12 years and seven months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for distributing fentanyl.


Leader of Multistate Drug Trafficking Organization Sentenced to 14 Years in Federal Prison

News Release: ANCHORAGE, Alaska - On April 11, 2023, Judge Ralph Beistline of the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska sentenced a Mexican national to 14 years imprisonment followed by five years of supervised release for his role as the head of a drug trafficking organization that spanned multiple states. Judge Beistline also sentenced a lower-level coconspirator based in Alaska to a term of seven years of imprisonment on April 12, 2023.


Gary Man Sentenced to 51 Months in Prison

Black Hawk Man Sentenced on Drug and Firearm Charges

News Release: RAPID CITY - United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell announced today that U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken has sentenced a Black Hawk, South Dakota, man convicted of Distribution of a Controlled Substance and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm. The sentencing took place on April 7, 2023.


Providence Man Sentenced on Federal Drug and Firearm Charges

News Release: PROVIDENCE, R.I. - A Providence man found to be in possession of more than 500 grams of cocaine and 100 fentanyl pills, and who, as a previously convicted felon, was illegally in possession of several magazines of ammunition that he was legally prohibited from possessing, was sentenced today to twenty-six months in federal prison, announced United States Attorney Zachary A. Cunha.


Zephyrhills Man Pleads Guilty to Unlawfully Making a Destructive Device

News Release: Tampa, FL - United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announces that James John Hall (34, Zephyrhills) has pleaded guilty to one count of unlawfully making a firearm (destructive device). Hall faces up to 10 years’ imprisonment. Hall has also agreed to forfeit the destructive device, which includes a pipe, Tannerite, pyrotechnic powder, and pyrotechnic fuse.

Previously Convicted Charles County Felon Pleads Guilty to Federal Firearms and Drug Charges

News Release: Greenbelt, Maryland - Sean Donnelle Hawkins, age 48, of Marbury, Maryland, pleaded guilty yesterday federal charges related to his distribution of cocaine, crack cocaine, and firearms in Charles County, Maryland. During the investigation, Hawkins sold eight firearms to a law enforcement source, including four privately made semi-automatic firearms, known as “ghost guns."
