On April 7, 2023, following a four-day trial in the United States District Court, Greeneville, Tenn., a jury convicted Timothy Carver, 53, of Jonesborough, Tenn., of knowingly producing child pornography, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2251(a), knowingly distributing child pornography, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2252A(a)(2)(A), and knowingly possessing child pornography involving a child less than 12 years of age, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2252A(a)(5)(B).

Elkhorn Man Sentenced to 102 Months for Distributing Child Pornography
United States Attorney Steven A. Russell announced that John R. Steier, age 32, was sentenced in federal court today in Omaha, Nebraska, for distributing child pornography. Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter sentenced Steier to 102 months of imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system. After completing his term of imprisonment, Steier will begin a 10-year term of supervised release. Steier was also ordered to pay $6,000 in restitution and a $4,000 assessment.

Nampa Man Sentenced to 25 Years in Federal Prison for Producing Child Pornography
Troy Groene, 48, of Nampa, Idaho, was sentenced to 300 months in federal prison for sexual exploitation of a child, U.S. Attorney Josh Hurwit announced today. Senior U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill described Groene as a sexual predator. Many of Groene’s victims appeared in court. Judge Winmill praised them as “heroes” and “brave young women” for their courage in coming forward and holding Groene accountable for his crimes.
