A former U.S. Airman and a repeat child sex offender both admitted to possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) involving minor victims in separate Project Safe Childhood cases in the Middle District of Georgia this week.


West Virginia Truck Driver Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison for Attempted Sex Trafficking of a Minor in Morton, Illinois

A West Virginia over-the-road truck driver, Michael Leonard, 53, has been sentenced to fifteen years in prison, to be followed by a lifetime of supervised release, for attempted trafficking of a minor. Leonard will also be required to register as a sex offender and pay restitution totaling $49,000 to victims of child pornography, whose images were stored on his phone.


Former D.A.R.E. officer sentenced to over 15 years in prison for child pornography crimes

A former longtime Beavercreek police officer was sentenced in U.S. District Court here today to 181 months in prison for committing two federal child pornography crimes.


Elkhorn Man Sentenced to 102 Months for Distributing Child Pornography

United States Attorney Steven A. Russell announced that John R. Steier, age 32, was sentenced in federal court today in Omaha, Nebraska, for distributing child pornography. Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter sentenced Steier to 102 months of imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system. After completing his term of imprisonment, Steier will begin a 10-year term of supervised release. Steier was also ordered to pay $6,000 in restitution and a $4,000 assessment.


Nampa Man Sentenced to 25 Years in Federal Prison for Producing Child Pornography

Troy Groene, 48, of Nampa, Idaho, was sentenced to 300 months in federal prison for sexual exploitation of a child, U.S. Attorney Josh Hurwit announced today. Senior U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill described Groene as a sexual predator. Many of Groene’s victims appeared in court. Judge Winmill praised them as “heroes” and “brave young women” for their courage in coming forward and holding Groene accountable for his crimes.


California Man Admits Sending Nude Pictures to Missouri Teen

A man from California pleaded guilty to a federal charge in St. Louis, Missouri Wednesday and admitted sending pictures of his genitals to a Missouri teen.


Brandon Resident Sentenced to 50 Years for Production of Child Pornography

A Brandon resident was sentenced to serve a total of 50 years in federal prison for production of child pornography and possession of child pornography, announced U.S. Attorney Darren LaMarca, Special Agent in Charge Jermicha Fomby of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch.

Omaha Man Sentenced for Distributing Child Pornography

United States Attorney Steven A. Russell announced that Michael Dickmeyer, 24, was sentenced today in federal court in Omaha for distribution and receipt of child pornography. The Honorable Brian C. Buescher sentenced Dickmeyer to 96 months’ imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal prison system. After his release from prison, Dickmeyer will serve 5 years of supervised release. Dickmeyer was also ordered to pay $21,000 in restitution.
